Current Problems:

Since 2001 continued concerns:

  • Independent Expert Analysis
  • Media Speculation
  • Political / Public Concerns
  • Doubts over studies
  • Skikda
  • FERC commission ABS report
  • Sandia carrying out review

Current Problems:

Key myths:

  • The Limburg demonstrates hole sizes – the
“experts” are wrong to rely on double hulls

  • Catastrophic failure will occur
  • LNG detonates like a bomb
  • Gas clouds will spread through cities before
    igniting

  • LNG carriers are equivalent to X atomic bombs
  • Fires will always be 1 mile wide and cause 2nd
    degree burns 2 miles away

These issues are propagated by sensationalism
over what could happen, not what is likely.

There is nothing wrong with informed concerns and this
should be encouraged.

However the issues are now extremely clouded so that
rational decisions are not being made.

Overall threat to LNG market and all the players in it,
including the public.
