Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) telah melepas front-end engineering design contract kepada Intec Engineering untuk pipe-in-pipe flowline project di deepwater lahan minyak dan gas Canapu 75 km dari Espirito Santo, Brazil.

The Canapu development lies in 1,608 m of water and includes a 22-km gas flowline that will transport production from a single well, ESS-138, to the Cidade de Vitoria floating production, storage, and offloading vessel in 1,386 m of water in Golfinho field.

The produced fluids will be processed at the FPSO and transported to land via an existing gas export pipeline.

A PIP flowline system was selected for the tieback of Canapu field to manage hydrate concerns. Canapu may be the first development in the industry with PIP subsea gas flowline, Intec said.

The FEED contract covers mechanical design of the PIP system, routing design, materials selection study, installation assessment, and preparation of all specifications and relevant technical documents and drawings in support of the installation bid package. Design of a 6-in. service pipeline that will run parallel to the production gas flow line also is included.

Work has already started and will be completed in 4 months.
